Mother's Lap - the Ultimate Bliss!

You sang for me when I was in cradle:
You rocked my children when they too were in.
The rhythmic sway of the swing to your songs
Soothed the infants to instant bliss!

Oh! How I wish I could continue to be
Like my daughter once said, the best place on earth
The mother’s lap, on your lap
And live a life of heavenly bliss!

Your quote of quotes were maddeningly true
True for then, now and ever
Even as a toddler, what I heard you utter
Ring in my ears, with refreshing bliss!

I remember once, in the exam hall
Unprepared, quite a common occurrence
Paraphrasing a verse, recalling your quote,
Scoring a full, oh! What bliss!

How could I forget those lovely days?
When I’d sit in the kitchen, while you’d dish out yummies
Gossiping about friends, college et al,
Gorging in between, the tummy in bliss!

Kitchen reminds me of your inherent talent
To produce music with pots and pulses
Scripting lyrics, composing songs,
Kitchen Orchestra! To attend is bliss!

Perform you would anywhere and everywhere
For the rich, the poor all for free
Never the one to wish for a return
Your musical note, to hear is bliss!

How we were planning a grand celebration
Your witnessing of a thousand moons!
But plans, God had otherwise for you
For he took you to live with him in bliss!

Oh! Mother dear how I missed you those days
When you suddenly left, with little warning
I cried for days and days together
Not knowing where I could find lasting bliss!

Even today as I pen this down,
Tears well up and pour down my cheeks
For no one in this world can replace you mother
To be on your lap is the ULTIMATE BLISS!
